Watch authentication service

What Is Watch Authentication?

In today's world it is all too easy to produce cosmetically accurate counterfeit watches.  To spot such a high-quality counterfeit watch requires an experienced, trained eye that knows what the movement and parts of any given watch should look like and can identify when they are not what they ought to be.

Our watch authentication service can provide you with certainty and peace of mind, knowing that your watch is the real deal.

Authentication is done by our expert watch maker with over 35 years experience.  The process of  authenticating a watch includes carefully scrutinizing its movement, dial, serial number and other parts.  We will then provide you with a transparent and  honest assessment.

Do I Need to Have My Watch Authenticated?

The short answer is no, of course not.  Not everyone needs to have their watch authenticated.  Buying a watch brand new from an authorized retailer will all but guarantee your watch is the real deal.  In this case our watch authentication service is probably not necessary.

On the other hand, if you've bought your watch pre-owned from a private seller or a watch or jewelry store that is not authorized by the brand to sell those specific watches than it may be a good idea to have your watch authenticated.

Verbal Authentication

Watch repair

This option is most suited to the watch owner  simply seeking assurance that the watch they currently own is what it is purported to be.  It is also suitable for verifying the authenticity of a watch before you purchase it.

Written Authentication

This option, complete with a Certificate of Authenticity, is most suited to the watch owner looking to bolster the sale of their watch by giving assurance to the potential buyer that they are selling a genuine timepiece.

How Can Getting My Watch Authenticated Help Me Sell It?

  •  If a buyer is trying to choose between two or more watches similar to the one you are selling, having your watch authenticated could be the deciding factor in which watch the potential buyer chooses.
  • An authenticated watch may draw more potential buyers for the simple fact that there is no question the watch you are selling is what you are claiming it to be.  This can also lead to a faster sale in that it may reduce the hesitancy of a potential buyer.
  • Unfortunately, when high price tag items are involved there can be people looking to scam you out of your watch and/or money.  An authenticated watch will help deter a scammer with fraudulent motives, or at least help protect you if they try to claim your watch is other than what you have claimed.
